I know I'm old for lots of reasons - aching painful knees, eyes that don't work even with glasses, age spots covering my arms and legs, sagging skin, Relief Society arms that flap in the breeze, wrinkles, baggy eyes, gray hair that just doesn't want to go away and a memory that can't seem to stay put. Today, however, I can give you one more reason why I know I'm getting old. I dread the coming of winter! It is snowing today and I'm not liking it.
Winter used to be my favorite season. I loved the feeling it brought to me - curl up under a warm blanket, sip a cup of hot chocolate, read a good book, etc. It used to bring up wonderful childhood memories of riding in a hay-filled sleigh pulled by huge workhorses, or ice skating for hours, or games of Duck, Duck, Gooose, Goose. It would remind me of the forts we made and the snowball wars we would have. It would remind me of the beautiful patterns Jack Frost would paint on the inside of our living room windows every morning. Ah, the memories.
Alas, those memories are quickly fading being replaced by memories of early morning shoveling in the dark, slipping and sliding down the highway hoping some dumbell doesn't run into me in their hurry to get somewhere else and the worry I feel all day long when it snows, wondering if I'm going to make it back up the hill without sliding off the road. No, the memories are not pleasant ones now. My back isn't as strong as it once was - my neck is a mess - my knees ache.
Today it is snowing and apprarently it's sticking on the ground up our way. The snow is slight here in Provo. I wonder if I'll make it up the hill today??
The horrors of snow have now overtaken the memories of my first childhood as I slip into my second childhood. Dang.

Adrianne and Mike told me about a little piece of heaven a while back. It's called Pumpkin Spice Coffemate. Go home, make yourself a cup of hot chocolate and put just a bit of this pumpkin spice creamer in it. Yummmmm.... It'll take you back to better, younger memories for sure! Suddenly, cozying up to a cup of hot chocolate makes the cold winters bearable~ even if it is for just a few minutes.
At first I thought you were going to tell me to put some of this pumpkin spice creamer on my aching knees. Ha, ha. -- Really. I thought that was where you were going. :)
Whatever works for ya! Dare you to try it!
Mom, I am beginning to feel a bit the same way. Every time it snows I can expect a commute that's twice as long and then I have to plan on when to leave for work and whether I leave work early or really late. It really is a pain.
I love it! We are growing old together. When she gets cold, we just snuggle to get warm. When we both hurt and hate to go down stairs, we just get Kaitlin to go get what we want down there. She still has good knees. Chris just goes to Gillian for a wonderful dye job on her hair. Mine is already cameflaughed. (How do you like that spelling?) You should get to "rub my neck" with such a pretty woman. I love it!

TMI dad. (Do you know what that even means?)
I guess not. Tell me.
