Yesterday I went to Hyland, Utah, to the home of Bob and Shauna Valentine. It was located right across from the Timpview High School. They were hosting the reunion of the many people who lived in Nebraska. There were people who lived there on the early seventies, and as late as the end of the nineties. Some I knew, and some I did not, but I had fun meeting new people and talking to some old friends from the time I was there. There were about forty people there.
We had some great food, and lots of fun. We even got to monitor, on Bobs large TV, the blow out game that BYU had. The were not the only big winners. This year is starting out very strange. Lots of big teams lost yesterday. Some did not. It is going to be a very interesting season. I did not hear the final score of the Florida State game. They were losing when I last heard.
Mom did not go, but stayed home with Ammon. It did not hurt her feelings. She does not have an easy time meeting new people, and sometimes she feels like she does not fit in. She is dead wrong, but you tell her. She does not listen to me.

A bunch of former Nebraskans watching BYU??? Why would you do that when you could be watching Nebraska? Oh well. There were a bunch of good games yesterday. Iowa blew out Iowa State (surprisingly after nearly losing to Northern Iowa last week), Michigan State lost, Notre Dame lost (!!!!), and unfortunately, Ohio State lost. I laughed at the Idaho State/Oklahoma score. What was Idaho State even thinking when they scheduled Oklahoma?
I LOVE college football.
I love college ball too! I tried my best to stay up and finish watching that Ohio vs USC game last night, but sleep was calling. I'm still tired! You're right that this year is going to be an interesting one!
Most of the Nebraskans that live in Utah all originated from Utah so ties are still strong here. They were loyal Cornhuskers when they lived there - probably still are, but BYU is closer now. Shauna Valentine works for BYU - how can you not cheer for them?
I'm glad Dad got to go - he loves parties with Nebraska people. I thoroughly enjoyed myself here at home watching the game with Ammon, cleaning the house (bottling about 20 pints of tomato juice) and making pizza dough and sauce for Kaitlin's Sadie Hawkins group of friends. They ate up here before going to the dance.
It was a good day yesterday.
