With a year and a half notice, including every TV station running "public service announcements" about the switch, I would seriously hope there are no problems. NPR did a piece the other day about how lower income families are essentially being discriminated against because they can't afford the converter box. Last I heard, the government had issued coupons for more than the price of the coverter box which would make the converter free. Apparently NPR didn't get that message.
Does anyone NOT have cable or dish or directv in the family besides us? We are rabbit ear antenna people exclusively but have been prepared since the "first" drop-dead date in February.
Well lets just say that we don't get So You Think You Can Dance anymore because we don't have the local stations. We didn't do anything about this whole deal. Our Dish plan didn't include the local channels.... RIP OFF!! I honestly think that it is rediculous that we don't get the local channels on dish for free. We have to pay for them like we have to for the added stations. That is rediculous!
We also do not get cable or direct tv. We have bunny ears too. It is in the crawl space above the living room. We got a card reader that is HD so it picks up all the local channels, except PBS and that stinks. But it seems to work well for us.
We have Dish and get all of the good stations already. The network is such junk anyway that we do not miss much. I can call Dish and get them to deliver the locals, if we want.
