A Midwestern Rain

Last night as I came home from Genola it started to rain. By the time I got home it was pouring. It was just like the midwest. It gave us probably two inches of rain. It was the hardest rain I have ever seen for that long in Utah in my whole life.

The problem was my raingutters were clogged up in front and so they overflowed right in front of the porch and Gillian's room. That is where a window well is and it was going right through the window, that is around the frames.

Before it stopped, there were about thirty or forty gallons of water on the floor of the bedroom and all in the carpet. Fortunatly, I had a wet and dry vaccum and was able to get most of it vaccumed up. I put a fan in the room door and opened the window. I hope it will dry it out. I do not want to lift the carpet since I cannot put it back and wouldl have to hire someone to do it. I have no money for that.

Adam and Kevin came today in normal clothes and Adam got up on a ladder and cleaned out the gutters. So even if it rains it will be alright.

I want to say a couple more things. You all may have heard of Issac being in the hospital with something that he swallowed. He made it out and went back to home. Today, Adrianne called and said she was at the hospital again with Issac. He fell off a counter and hit his head. It was back in the hospital he went, and it is going on as I write. So much for life. I hope he is alright.

You all surely know that about a year ago I gave Mom a nice, small digital camera. She carries it everywhere she goes and I am amazed at the wonderful eye she has for pictures. She has had so much fun. The other day we were going somewhere and we saw something and she said that for the first time in a year she did not have her camera. She was really upset! I loved it. I love her, in case you had not noticed.

I was really happy to see Kaitlin get her Young Womanhood Award. It is like a young man getting an Eagle badge. She has worked hard on it, and deseves it. I love her a lot, and am happy to have her as one of my daughters. If I am not mistaken, Adrianne also earned hers.

And then there is Loren's face on the blog. She looks like almost every kid I ever had at one time or another. She is going to be a great kid. She will have to be to compete with her two sisters. They are strong and wonderful girls, too.

What fun it is to have twenty, yes, twenty grandkids! I love them all from Kay all the way down to Gedeon. What a group. As a father, today, I say they could only be great having such wonderfu parents. I thank you all for communicating with me today, and for your love. You each have mine.

Sorry to hear of the flooding. You can pull the carpet back, let it dry (and the pad), and then rent a carpet kicker at Home Depot for less than $14/day. It would be nice if it all dries by itself, though! I'm glad Adam and Kev cleaned out the gutters for you.

sorry to hear about Ike again. Wow, that's a fun bill: two ER visits in a week.

Glad you had a good Father's Day! -Jess
