The following is part of an entry that I made in my journal for last Thursday. Some of you might find this stuff not interesting or important at all, but it is what it is. Hope someone likes it:
I next went into Spanish Fork and got a haircut and picked up the Prom dress that Kaitlin had taken to the cleaners. I went to Larry Christensen for a haircut. There was a man there that I knew but could not remember his name. I sat by him and he knew me well. By the time he got into the chair for his haircut, somehow we all got talking about the Clayson family. I said I thought of the boys, only Sam was still alive. He said, rather authoritatively, no, Frank is still alive and was in Hawaii right now. Then in the course of the conversation, he mentioned his wife, who is Joyce. That is Joyce Clayson. He was Rupert Lewis. He is the wife of my cousin Joyce. Actually, his brother married Joyce’s sister, Clara, and then he said that Frank Clayson was married to his sister. That I did not know. I told him that I had only met Frank once and that was at an event at Rupert’s home.
I could remember something that happened when Chris and I were visiting Jason in Rexburg, Idaho. In the news a story came about a couple that was killed coming back from a visit to Lagoon, Utah. They were from Blackfoot, Idaho. One of the couple was actually my cousin, the child of Frank Clayson, who lived in Idaho. I mentioned this to Rupert and he confirmed that I remembered right.
I was amazed that I did not know Rupert’s name or actual identity right at first. I did not let on to him, and had acted as is I knew him all along. Hope he didn’t know just how big of a fool I really was.
The dress that I picked up deserves mentioning. It is about forty-five years old. It was the dress Chris wore when she was crowned Queen of the Benjamin Homecoming when she was in high school. Maureen Beckstrom and Terry Jane Thornton were her attendants. Chris told me she had won because the competition included a public speech. She had taken debate, and speech in high school, and she was a good speaker and thought the judges really liked her speech. I think she was chosen because she was just beautiful. But then what do I know.
Chris has kept the dress all these years, and Kaitlin came to her looking for an old dress to wear to a Prom. The girls were all looking for a vintage dress. After trying on lots of others, including some of Chris’ mother’s dresses, this dress of Chris’ was chosen. However, Chris had to do some changes like putting in a new zipper on the dress. That was tough since the material was just about too old to work with.
I wonder if the boy that Kaitlin is going with to the Prom knows what he is getting in to?

I hate it when someone recognizes me and I don't recognize them. It makes for a very awkward conversation until you can place the person. That happens to me all the time. When I'm on the other end of it, it's kind of fun until they can recognize you. Just watching them agonize is sometimes funny. Makes for a great sport. :)
