Lots of things to write lately

First off, happy birthday, yesterday, Lance! I've been thinking a lot about you lately. I wish we could have been there to celebrate.

I have had so much to blog about lately. I'm not sure why. Here are the things on my mind today.

1. We started doing extractions this month just to volunteer. I figure I have no clue where to start with family stuff that a least this way I feel like I'm contributing to someone's family search. The handwriting is hard to decifer but so far the two batches we've done have been fun. It's weird to think about the people on those records.

2. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with someone on base at Family Advocacy. Mike called them today and said something like, "I have a very violent two year old. He hits, kicks, pushes, stabs his brothers in the neck with forks, and beats our dog." She said, "Oh my. We should see what we can do about that." Mike is more worried than I am but I don't know what to do to get him to stop his violent behavior so maybe she can help. Chelsey, are you still sure you want me to send my boys to you?!

3. Cruises right now are too expensive. We wanted to leave from Baltimore but all the cruises leaving from there are $800 or more. So we looked into going from Florida or New Orleans but with the plane ticket it is about the same or more. So, Mike thinks we should do something else. We are thinking Virgina Beach. We are members of the Military Vacations Club and we can get a room at a resort for $365 a week. Then we can spend the money we would have spent on a cruise doing fun things like going whale watching, going on a helicopter ride, etc. What do you think? Know anything fun we can do?

4. Our house hasn't sold. We have lots of people come look, but only the one bite and it was a bad bite. We average around two people a week. Is that good? I have no idea. All the feedback is good but it doesn't matter how good the feedback is if no one wants the house, you know? Somedays it isn't bad at all and others I want to pull my hair out. Like when someone came yesterday and they showed up early. We rushed home from church (yes, someone came on Sunday and maybe that's breaking the sabbath to let them come, shoot me) and finished cleaning and feeding the boys and put Eli down for an hour. Isaac had gotten Diamond some water and then decided to keep playing with the water. I said to them, "Do not play in the water," so instead they played in the mud. We were almost done cleaning and were almost ready to get everyone in the strollers so we could go for a walk while the people were looking at the house. I saw them in the backyard and just about died. I was speechless. I had gotten them dressed five minutes before and they were covered in mud. I'm not talking about a little dirt here or there, I'm talking MUD! I ran outside and turned on the hose and sprayed them down. Will's shoe was stuck in the mud. We had just cleaned it up when the people showed up early.

5. I DO have tendonitis. And I also have some weird bump on my face. I have to have that checked out. This last month I have gone to the doctor once and Mike has gone once and the boys and I have gone four times! I have two more appointments for Will, one for Eli, and then have to get my eye checked out. I am SICK of going to the doctor.

6. Will had no clothes at all. I mentioned this already. I went to Target and they had some clothes on Clearance but they usually only have 30% off. I don't think I've seen better than that here in OK. So I got on ebay and found a big lot of clothes. I am embarrassed to admit this to you all and you will think I'm crazy. But at least admit it was a good deal, Ok? I bid on a lot of 75 items. With shipping I paid $89. I also bought ten pairs of shorts for $19 with shipping included. So now we have so much clothes that I am very embarrassed. He won't wear the same shirt again for like a month. But, we got like seven pants and a bunch of long sleeve shirts so he should be able to wear them in the winter next year. Anyway, that's like a little over a dollar per item. Good deal.

7. Mike won the Jr. Military Engineer of the Year award from his squadron--that's around 150 total employees. Then he won it for the group--500 employees. Then he won it for the wing--3,000 employees. Then he won it for the base--27,000 employees. Next up he is competing for Air Force Materiel Command...who knows how many people. He had be be nominated by his bosses so that's cool.
Ok, it's quiet/nap time and I need to read scriptures so there you go. Have a good day family. Love you all.

Whew! Lots to read about.

1. By extractions, I'm assuming you are talking about indexing. We did that for a while, but haven't kept up it.

2. Sorry your kid is violent.

3. Check out TravelZoo for cruise deals. I seem to see them there all the time. Vacations always seem to be too expensive, don't they? Cruises haven't interested me, so I'd say use the MVC deal.

4. Sorry your house hasn't sold yet. Hope the lookers start looking more.

5. I haven't been to the doctor since the late '80's. What's it like these days?

6. I don't view it like you bought Will 75 pieces of clothing...you bought 75 pieces of clothing your three boys will share for years to come. I've never bought clothes off eBay, though. Might as well do it now before your kids care where the clothes come from.

7. Mike is a stud. I once got second in a spelling bee.

You certainly have a lot on your mind! And yes, you can still leave your boys with me while you and mike get some time alone! Fork stabbing and all ;)! Good luck with all the stuff going on...Mike's award, the house, etc. It always works out!

I hear you on the whole doctor thing. Sorry you have to suffer thru thousands of visits too. That's one of the many unfortunate things about having toddlers...and getting older. :)

That's a totally great deal on clothes. I never thought to buy things on Ebay. I'll look into that next time. Did they post pics of all these clothes?

As far as vacations go, you have to keep in mind that most of your expenses will be paid once you are on the ship. Food, entertainment, lodging, and transportation (minus flight) to and from different places. However, that military deal sounds awesome! I'm definitely going to look into that.

Good luck on the home selling front. I don't envy you.

HOLY COW, MIKE! Congratulations on the award!! That's really awesome. Adrianne told me you had been nominated but at the time didn't know the outcome. I'm really proud of you because I know you are a hard worker. Glad your reward is one free day off work. :)

I am sloww reading this blog, but your post was very interesting.

Sounds like that kid is like his grandpa. I once threw a pitchfork at my little brother when I had him tied up to the coop. He still does not like me much.

Mike is a stud! Congrates!
