Any thoughts?

So, I have been asked to speak in Sacrament meeting on Sunday. The topic is "How a father as worthy priesthood holder makes a difference in the home." If any of you have any thoughts, suggestions or experiences you'd like to share with me that would be great! Thanks!

This has nothing to do with the post, although I had to talk on this last year so I'll email you some ideas. Anyway, I think the quote on the side bar is from Duncan Sheik. Am I right?

Very good. Adam will know it in a heartbeat (he introduced me to the song). I think Lance and Dave are aware of it, too.

The last song I had up was from Big and Rich (Eternity).

Jen,

The first thing that came to my mind was a conference talk from a few conferences ago in which Elder Ballard (I think) stated that we as fathers shouldn't abdicate the responsibility we have to call our family to prayer and family home evening to our wives. I think a man who is trying to honor his priesthood should be taking an active role in the spiritual wellbeing of his family. Far to often we believe that our job is to "provide" for our family while forgetting that the more important part of that word has nothing to do with money or food or shelter.

The father should be the leader of the home, not just a manager. I am sure you are aware of Hugh Nibleys famous remarks concerning managers and leaders. Then when you couple that leadership with an ability to lead in real parnership with a spouse, and you have what God intended, and does himself.

The doing is always better than the talking or commanding or the preaching. Words backed up by example are very powerful. One explains the principles and one demontrates the principles.

I wished I could do better myself.
