I haven't been this cold since I went on my mission. It seems that the only thing I can think about lately is the weather. We have now had the 6th or 7th (I can't remember which) hardest winter on record (with regard to snowfall) and we are supposed to get more snow this week. Our children haven't been to school since last thursday and have a two hour delay this morning (Friday's day off was not weather related, nor was Monday's officially since it was President's day). We got hit with freezing rain followed by 5" of snow on Sunday (Church was cancelled once again). Since the city has run out of money for snow removal, sand, salt, and so forth, you can imagine the state of the roads. Cars are off the roads left and right. Nearly every road is a sheet of ice which makes the top speed about 10 mph. I usually like winter but I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS!!! We are having a Clark family celebration the day that my tulips break ground. You are welcome to join in from afar. Well, that was my rant for the day.
What do you think about Osama, I mean Obama, winning yesterday? Do you think that Hillary is beginning to see some writing on some wall somewhere?

We heard the the Utah DOT started dipping into their road maintenance fund to salt the roads, so we've got potholes everywhere (!) that they can't afford to fix now. What a mess.
Jen and I were watching the first half of Leno last week and he slipped and said "Osama" instead of "Obama." It was quite funny, mostly because it was obvious it was an actual slip and not a joke.
My sister said they were having the same problem with the roads in Davenport. They have several inches of ice and very little sand. Good luck.
I wish I had tulips to wait for, but since we tore up our yard last fall I will have to wait until next spring.

I feel your pain Jason. My kids haven't been in school for what seems like ages! Last Monday, the school called saying Geoff was sick, so he came home. Tues-Thurs he dealt with the fever/cold junk going around, Wed. was a snow day so Sarah was out, then Friday was a teacher day. Monday was also off with the holiday, then today was another snow day. We got 3 inches of snow overnight and I think a delay would've been fine. Why do they have to cancel school altogether?? I have 3 additional LOUD neighbor boys running around my house all bored stiff. Their parents all had to work still -- so I'm the lucky recipent of everyone else's kids. Sarah isn't smart enough to wear socks and insists on playing in the snow. That obviously lasts 2 min!
I am also sick of this out of school thing! What am I going to do this summer?? The snow is manageable if it weren't for the stinking wind! Good luck with your weather!
I wouldn't mind a snow day once in a while. No matter how ugly it gets here, the busses are up the mountain, slipping some, but they come and we haven't had a single snow day all year long. I guess it's because we don't normally get the drifting and high winds you guys do out in the Midwest.
Good luck to all of you -- I feel our pain as we gear up for an approaching storm this weekend.

I don't think I'll ever be as cold as I was on my mission.
Yes, I think Hillary is seeing the writting on the wall. I watched the acceptance speech last night of Obama in Houston. It went on for forty-five minutes. The cable networks were a little shagrined at haveing to broadcast such a thing on national TV, but that was what they did. It was quite a speech. He is a good orator. However, what McCain said in a short sentence about it was just as good. Did you hear that?
Obama sounds like a preacher giving platitudes but not too much substance. He talked for ten minuted on having hope. I can't even do that in Sacrament Meeting.
The problem is he will be tough to beat. In the primaries, there have been way more people vote on the democratic side than on the republican side. I do not know if that means too much, but it is troubling.
He wants to spend 800 billion dollars to finance his program of give aways and entitlements. He says an increase of taxes on the rich will finance it. Most economists doubt that can be done. Especially when you think that the rich are the ones financing economic growth, jobs and new business. So take away their money in excessive taxes and you have a real problem.

Hopefully your children are back in school, Chels. These storms that have been hammering the entire midsection of the US are miserable. I am just glad I am not further north (i.e. Wisconsin -don't you miss it, Lance?). I am sure it isn't any better out West. By the way, our high temperature yesterday was 5 degrees. Michelle actually said something about it being warm this weekend (in the 30's).
They're back in school today, but another storm is supposed to hit later tonight. I'm going to assume that means I'll have them home again tomorrow...help...
