Eclipse

Did any of you see the lunar eclipse last night? It was the last full lunar eclipse for two years. Even better, with the eclipse, Saturn was visible just down and to the left of the moon. We got Jared a telescope for Christmas and were actually able to see Saturn's rings. Not very well but well enough that everybody but Michelle (she was on the phone) and Scott (asleep) got to see something that most people never get to see. Jared was pretty excited. Unfortunately, it was too cold to stay out for very long. As we looked at Saturn, I remembered a time in NE when Dad stopped along the side of the road and approached a group of people looking through a telescope (I am assuming they were from an astronomy class at UNL). He asked if his boys could look and both Adam and I got an incredibly detailed look at Jupiter and Saturn. I have never forgotten that and still have a bit of interest in stargazing. The unfortunate thing about Iowa is that there is a lot of light pollution. I have only seen the Milky Way once since we have been here.

We saw it...on the news. The inversion and cloud cover prevented anyone here in SLC from seeing the eclipse.

I had no idea there was an eclipse last night! Geoff would've loved that! I remember taking walks (okay, so I was running to keep up and Dad was walking) with Dad in CA and he would explain all the constellations to me. I remember that well. It was the first time I can remember learning anything about the sky. Thanks dad! :)

We tried to see it but it was way too cloudy last night. We did see it on the news though.

It was too cloudy to see it in Utah.

I too, rememember the time we stopped on the road. I have wanted a telescope ever since. I have put it on my list. Maybe when I get ready to die, maybe I will make a movie.
