I feel old

I know this is silly but I just ordered The Friend for the first time and it makes me feel so old! I can't believe I have a kid old enough to start getting The Friend. What makes you feel old?

It's a great magazine for kids especially trying to get through Sacrament meeting. Were you just getting it online? It's helpful to have when you're in the primary -- cut stuff out, copy pages, etc. Will is going to love it. Great quick stories for FHE for him too!

Abby loves The Friend. She gets so excited to be getting her own magazine in the mail! I felt the same way when we first subscribed to it.

What makes me feel old? Having a daughter who goes to school two days a week. Having a back that won't let me get out of bed in the morning. Having three kids when my 35 yr. old co-workers barely have 1. Talking to missionaries who talk about their "old" brothers, I say "How old are they?" and they respond "Oh, like 30."

Boy, based on these criteria, Jason must feel real old. He He He.

Yeah, it's the creaky knees for me. And the fact that the older I get, the weight doesn't just come off like it used to. I actually have to keep really active now!

Also, the fact that we really have to address the issue of Social Security. It won't be there when we need it -- at least we can't count on the help. Retirement will come faster than we think. It's sobering to have to think about it all so much now at our ages. We have to plan for something else!

Old? How about having to drive your son to seminary every morning or not being able to keep girls from calling to talk to your boys? No wonder I am going gray.

Jason,
You are just where you deserve to be -- I think I remember a girl with the last name of Strange who wouldn't stop calling you.... :)
You're not old, you're just deserving.
Mom - the oldest of you all.

It makes me feel old to think that I have a nephew that goes to seminary. Yikes. It seems like I was in seminary just a few short years ago. Especially when some of my religion courses at BYU were as easy as my seminary classes. (Of course, others were so difficult I feel like an idiot when I struggle to get a B in my Book of Mormon class.)

I feel especially old today because every day I'm finding a new grey hair. For a while I was just pulling them out. They were scattered all around, but mostly in the scalp. Well I've decided if I keep doing this I'll be bald soon so I better now pull out any more grey hairs, it's time to color. That makes me feel old. And the fact that I put on weight so much easier than take it off. I have to work out so much just to stay smaller, but I'm still not really small. I'm 144 presently and for my height I should be around 125-135. You'd think as a fitness instructor I'd be able to take off the weight, but age and diet have stuff to do with that and Chelsey's right, it doesn't just come off easy anymore. Caleb in seminary makes me feel ancient. My baby, the last child (at least we think he's the last) is in Kindergarten. I remember when Caleb was entering Kindergarten and now Scott is gone and there's no one home. Alyssa getting baptized this summer. It's amazing how time flies. Enjoy those special moments. Tomorrow I'm taking Alyssa ice skating.

Geez, I'm not as old as any of you, but I have the same physical issues as all of you! At least my children don't make me feel any older than my body does.

You've got gray hair?! I've seen Adam's and Jen tells me I have some, too, but not on my sisters!

Yes, unfortunately I have gray hair. I only had one after I had Isaac but now I stopped counting. Don't rub it in.

Wow, I love that I'm the youngest! For once, I actually have something up on all you! No gray hair!!!! I think I will freak out the moment I see gray in my hair. I unfortunately have the bad back and knees though. And well, I'm not even going to start with weight...Chelsey and Michelle can just go jump in a lake as far as I'm concerned! The two skinny girls are talking about how hard it is to keep the weight off...ha ha ha.
But seriously, don't you all think it makes you feel old at the fact that our youngest sister is dating and driving!! That freaks me out.

See the trick here ladies is to start coloring your hair before you notice the grey! That way you never really notice! I only put highlights in my hair every so often, but it seems to be helping to hide the grey. Although, my hair is naturally lighter than my sisters'.

yeah, I remember mentioning to Chelsey that I found a gray hair and she was like, "You have gray hair? I'm so sorry." Yeah, skinny, grayless woman...rub it in. :)

I just have to add one more "old" thing. How about teaching your son how to shave? Last night I finally taught Caleb to shave. That really made me feel old. At least he looks better now. That mustache thing he had going on just wasn't doing it nor were the five long hairs he had growing out of his chin.

Jess and Jen said...

Dude, did he have a "Mexi-stache"? How funny!

That's so weird to think about Caleb shaving. You are old! ;)
