Today was a very sweet day for us and for many members of our ward. Ammon passed the sacrament for the first time. One of the members of his quorum has been asked to help Ammon and so he stood by Ammon's side, handed the trays to him and walked in front of him, stopping where Ammon was to stop. I thought it might be a bit of a circus with questions and chaos, but it wasn't. Ammon smiled all the time, but he handled himself very well. There was one row that distracted him a bit because a family with a cute little baby was sitting there. Ammon adores this baby and he had to stop and quickly wave and smile at the baby. Other than that, he got about his business. He looked over at us a couple of times, smiling, and it was a beautiful smile showing his great joy. I was so impressed with the dignity all the deacons showed and the kindness they are showing Ammon. After church, they asked Ammon to go with them to collect fast offerings, which he did. He came home a little tired, but very satisfied with the day.
Many members of the ward had tears in their eyes as they watched him perform this simple task.
I don't suppose many of you would completely understand the sweetness I felt today because you don't have kids like Ammon. He's your brother, but he's my son. I am so excited that he is showing so much interest in serving and doing things he can do. I was especially excited to see that he was so much quicker when he passed the water than with the bread. It didn't take him long to get down the short aisle he did and I'm sure he will get the rest of it down pat the more often he passes the sacrament.
It was truly a sweet day for our little family.

Pretty soon, he'll be up there preparing the stuff before church and then blessing it. Good times ahead!

What a great experience. I'm excited that I get to witness this in a few weeks. I went to church at the local ward building today by Ann's house. Ann and Joe came with me. We only went to Sacrement meeting, but I'm glad I was able to go at all. It was great to see such a diverse ward. Many different races and people from all walks of life. They had a very good fast and testimony meeting. I felt the spirit and I hope that Ann and Joe did too.

Ammon will be just as excited to bless the sacrament when he becomes a priest. He can find the sacrament prayers in the scriptures much faster than I can. He knows them very well already.
I am glad that Ammon has now had the opportunity to pass the sacrament. I still remember the feelings I had the first time I passed the sacrament. I also vividly recall watching my own boys pass the sacrament for the first time. It is certainly a special experience - one that I am sure Ammon will remember for the rest of his life.
