Ironman I am not

I competed in my triathlon on Saturday. I managed to beat my time from last year but just barely - 6 seconds faster. I knocked nearly 2 minutes off my bike time (I was ranked 8th of 26 in my age group) but was about 30 seconds slower in the swim (13th) and nearly 1:30 slower on the run (24th). The wind was blowing enough to push me around on the bike ride. As such, I really had to work hard to keep on pace. When I started the run, I thought I was going to die. My calves really tightened up and I had to stop twice to stretch them. At least I managed to run the whole way. I placed 98th out of 245. Although I didn't do as well as I had planned, I am still satisfied with my effort and am going to start training for next year as soon as I can walk again.

Jason! I am so proud of you. You seriously are so awesome. I hope your whole family came to support you. Did you get any pictures? Anyway, 98th out of 245 is awesome. Congratulations!

I think I could do the bike and run just fine, but the swim would absolutely kill me. I swim to survive, not race.

I do not know about having to train for something when you cannot even walk now from that something. Is something wrong here. Yea, just fat old me.

I am impressed that you do such a thing. I would like to see all of my kids do such things. I would like to do such things. Do they have an age catagory for me? Can you imagine the time. I would do great with the swimming. I do have boyancy you know.

It was nice to see the pictures Michele sent. Who is that guy with those fantastic shoulders?

Yes we all went with him. We squoze into a hotel room and most everyone slept on the floor since there weren't enough beds and we didn't want to pay for two rooms. We all had a miserable sleep because the beds were so uncomfortable and the hotel ran out of extra pillows so most of us slept with either one or no pillows. Besides all that it was fun. The night before the race while Jason picked up his packet at the triatholon route we all went swimming at the hotel. Except for Caleb who claims he can't swim without his noseplugs, so he missed out. There aren't any pictures of Caleb since he keeps putting his hand in front of his face for every shot I take. It's a pretty annoying thing lately so you probably won't see any pictures of him for a while. We all went out for ice cream at a local shop after the swimming, then got up early for the race. There were donuts and waffles at breakfast so the children were really happy about that. I thought Jason did fabulous. It was neat to see him finish and I'm so proud of him.
