Here is Alyssa sitting in a chair at Clair's Boutique in the local Mall. She was excited, yet very nervous about what the next few minutes would bring to her.
She has been wanting her ears pierced for years and now that she's about to turn 8 she gets to have them done. I would have waited until her birthday, but she is in my sister's wedding on September 1st as the flower girl. Since you have to wait 6 weeks for the earrings to set in your ear, this way the 6 weeks will just be up at the wedding and she can put in her pretty new earrings for the wedding that match the flower girl dress.

That is so fun. I remember when I got my ears peirced. It was very exciting. Tell her I think she looks beautiful with her new earings.
I tried to get my ears pierced last year (I'm also a Ruby!), but Jen objected for some reason. I think it was because I wanted two earrings in one ear, and Jen says that's against what the prophet counsels. So, I got none.

I get to get my ears peirced in November! Alyssa looks so cute!
I looked at the pics again and it's kinda funny. You can almost sense her nervous anxiety in the first picture (like "Oh, is this going to hurt?"). In the next one, of course, she looks elated to have her rubies.
Alyssa was very nervous and kept saying "I won't cry, I'll be okay." I told her it was okay to cry because it would hurt.
3 years ago she asked me if she could get her ears pierced. We were in a jewerly shop back then and I told her she had to watch someone get them done before she could get her ears done. The next person to get their ears done was a baby. The babys screamed it's little head off. Alyssa said,
"No no no, I changed my mind. I don't need them done."
It's a good thing she said that back then because I wasn't ready to let her have them done.
Then the next year on her 6th birthday she told me she'd be very brave and she wanted to get them done. I told her it would be at least 2 years before she could get it done. I almost made her wait that long. Today she is reminding me every chance she gets that I need to clean them and rotate them. I wonder if the entire 6 weeks will be like this. She's very determined to take very great care of them.
Next is contacts. I hope to wait until she's at least 12 for those.
