I think we have about 2 pieces of furniture in our house we actually bought new. We used Brent and Chelsey's old entertainment center for years until we just finally bought a new one about a month ago at WalMart.
Free furniture is the way to go, especially for us young kids who haven't been married that long. There really isn't a need to have new stuff all at once. That comes with time. But in the mean time, garage sales and hand-me-downs are fine with us!
Same here. I'm sure when people walked in our house previously they thought we were white trash because our entertainment system was just a piece of wood that Mike painted black and put a hole in the back to thread the wires through. The wood sat on top of our speakers and then the TV on the wood. It looked silly but worked. So, it was really nice to get this stuff from Dave. We almost look like normal people.
Nice pieces! I saw the coffee table on the web cam this morning, but didn't realize that you got other nice things, too! I am now way past the time of wanting to get hand-me-downs with funiture, but I'm still grateful when we get things free. The only new furniture we've ever purchased in our house since marriage is our bedroom set (and it's nice), Ammon's TV and our desks that hold our computers. All the rest have been handed down. I now need a couch so badly!!! The ones we have are falling apart and the one Jess gave us we handed over to Lance because it was more decent than our other two. It's time for new furniture!! :)
