Hannity vs. Anderson
Gag. That's all I have to say. Was anyone else as unfortunate as we were to witness the train wreck of a debate between Sean Hannity and our beloved SLC mayor (JOKE) Rocky Anderson? Anderson is an idiot and Hannity is just about as pig headed. I think they are both so caught up in themselves, that any sort of real debate was nearly impossible. The poor mediator actually said he was ready to throw out his watch since neither of the two men would adhere to the agreed upon time, but the watch was a gift from his wife. The crowd was just as awful as the debators were! Both sides were equally rude and it was rather embarrassing for me as a SL resident to think that this is how my city was being represented. Shame on all you liberals and conservatives. The anti war crowd actually "boo"ed (sp?) when Hannity pointed out a family from SL who was in the audience and had recently lost their son in Iraq. He was trying to show that we needed to be supportive to these soliers and their families whether you agree with the war or not, and then there's the idiots in the audience that booed!! There's my soapbox for the week. Enjoy.

Jim and I listened to it -- I am not a Sean Hannity fan (I don't like any political talk-show host because I think they are unbearably rude) -- having said that, however, I found myself laughing off and on all the way through this thing. Hannity had some good pops in there about a stupid mayor that won't stay home and do his job. I thought Rocky was horrendous. He was so bent on making his point and getting it across despite the questions that he never answered any of the questions. He didn't avoid them -- he just ignored him. The comments about the crowd afterwards was alarming. I thought it was so disruptive that substance to the debate was limited. (They were probably plants by Rocky anyway.) I thought that some of the facts that Rocky had should have been questioned by Hannity but he apparently didn't have anything to negate Rocky's facts. In some places he did. I was very glad that he brought up the fact that Clinton could have taken care of this problem when he was president and I did like his barbs about Hillary. I didn't and don't like anything about Rocky. He's a disgrace to Salt Lake -- does it speak volumes that citizens of SLC would vote and support someone of his caliber?
I also witnessed the pathetic "debate". I thought it was a complete waste of time. The mediator did not act very professionaly and didn't seem too qualified to handle the whole thing. Shame on those who went to the event and turned it into a yelling and booing match. How pathetic. Both Hannity and Anderson were ridiculus. The whole thing was a joke and not a debate. Bottom line is, Hannity is a jerk and Anderson is a terrible mayor and a moron.
Sean Hannity and Rocky Anderson represent both ends of the political spectrum. I don't think either represent their main-stream political affiliation very well.
Like most of you, I can't stand Sean Hannity, either. He is a pompous, self-righteous "good American," but Rocky Anderson isn't much better. It does seem like Rocky's view of his position or abilities far exceed his current job.
Unfortunately, I didn't see the debate. I wanted to watch it, but made the mistake of watching "Night at the Museum" -- by far a bigger waste of time than the supposed debate.
Jess
We obviously didn't see the debate but I would definately have chosen to see Night at the Museum over a mayorial debate anytime. We loved Night at the Museum. There is no such thing as a serious Ben Stiller movie. As long as you like his brand of humor, you should like this movie. We actually own it and we almost never buy movies.
Good luck with your Mayor. Everything I have read about him has been negative.
Jason
I'm glad you guys liked the movie; Jen's family liked it as well. It would be a good movie for a family to watch together, but it just wasn't our thing.
It was nice, however, to see Ben Stiller in a clean movie.
One thing about Rocky: it is a little funny that he's only Chelsey's mayor and none of us really should care, but he tends to represent something bigger than Salt Lake City in his pursuits.
And the Hannity-Anderson "debate" was purely for entertainment. Rocky is not running for re-election and Hannity is a radio personality.
