A few nights ago, a story ran on the local news about a mysterious smell in the Salt Lake Valley. At the time of broadcast, no one had any idea what the smell was. It was reported to smell like burning rubber by some viewers. Dozens of calls were coming in to the fire department, news stations, and 911 dispatch. Some people said they felt sick and one was even taken to the hospital. I personally didn't smell anything so I can't relate.
On the radio this morning, it was reported that the smell did indeed originate from our glorious Great Salt Lake. As physically pretty as it can be to live here in this area, there sure are a few black eyes (inversions and that "lake" we call "great").
