Since most of us will gather in Utah this summer for the family reunion, I propose a challenge of a jog to the bottom of the "Y" on Y Mountain. It's .94 miles as calculated in Google Earth, goes from 5,153' to 6,067' in elevation (a change of 914 feet in elevation over 4,963 feet in distance - or a slope of 18% if I'm doing my rise over run calculation right). There is little shade on this hike, but the view is excellent once you're on top. Actually, the view is nice from the parking lot, but you'd have to watch out for lip-locked lovers if you stayed there.
We could do it one evening as a sunset hike/jog for those interested. Hikers could begin and go at their own pace, while joggers make their way up at their own pace. There wouldn't be an award given to the fastest, but rather this could be an attempt to get some of us in better shape.
Date: Early August
Location: Provo, UT
Who: Anyone and everyone who wants to participate
Any feedback? Would this interest anyone else? I'm not a big hiker because of foot, back, and knee problems, but I wish I did more of it. This may help me get back on track.

Hey Jess I want to do it. Count me in! (that is walking of course... who knows if my knees or heart could handle anything more! haha.)

Mom says "JOG?" how about HUFF AND PUFF walk? haha.
If we are in Utah this summer, we are in too.
I'll do it. You had all better be ready or you will be embarrassed by a guy nearly in his late 30's. Now, if I can only get my body to back up my mouth...
We think Jason or Hans are the most likely to win, although I guess it isn't a competition.
Well, this past summer my roomate Chip and I jogged up to the Y and it is not as easy as I think some of you think. It is quite challenging to run up there. (I still think I could win.)
I'll at least walk if I can't run. It's a great hike! It'll get you sweating -- especially in August.
Hans and I are both in for it. I'm even crazy enough to think I can try and run it. However, my running is as fast as everyone's walking. This would be a great motivation for me! Great suggestion Jess.
