Sister Woodland and I wish to thank you for raising such a fine young
man. We love and admire Elder Clark. He has developed a deep sense of obedience,
spirituality, and devotion to the Lord. Due to his development, he has
been assigned as Zone Leader.
Leadership and training of the missionaries in his zone will be entrusted
to Elder Clark as the Zone Leader. His primary responsibility will be to assist
them in becoming more effective servants of the Lord. He will become their
shepherd and example as they carry the eternal message of the Gospel to the
people of these nations. The spiritual and physical well being of the
missionaries in his zone will be entrusted to Elder Clark as their Zone Leader.
He will teach and inspire those he serves through love and example. He will
literally become their shepherd.
Elder Clark has learned to turn the work over to the Lord and to be led by
the Spirit. He
has become a great Priesthood leader.
This apparently happened when he was moved to Apeldorn. He actually has said nothing to us about it. That is probably a good sign. I make no big point of him being called as a Zone Leader, but I am very happy that he has the Spirit of the Lord in his work. He is very happy. His letters show it. What more can be asked for than that. I pray each day as much for the people he speaks with and teaches as I do for him. If they comprehend his message and believe his words and either are prepared for the future acceptance of the gospel or accept it now and be baptized, he will be happy. The life blood of a missionary is to have people listen and obey.
Please join with me in thanking the Lord for his opportunity to serve. It is not a new prayer for me. He is my fifth son to serve a mission, and I feel like I must tire the Lord with my pleadings in behalf of his and all of the previous missionaries work.
I love you all, and wish you each the very best there is to have. To paraphrase a great prophet of old, silver and gold I have not to give, but what I have I give unto you, my love and respect.

I am excited for David. Being a good Zone Leader is a challenge. It is difficult and at times heart breaking but I know David will do a good job. Our children never let a family prayer go by without asking the Lord to bless David in his work.
Dave seems like he'd be an influential leader. I'm glad he's a leader for good on his mission. I'm sure he'll do a great job as a zone leader. Like Jason's kids, Dave is mentioned in every one of Abby's prayers. In fact, it's become part of her recitation ("Heavenly Father, thank you for this day, bless Uncle David that he'll be good on his mission..." then she pauses and waits for us to help with the rest). It's quite funny.
Good luck Dave. You will be a great example and Zone Leader. We also pray for you every night. Sounds like you are getting a lot of prayers!!!
I have seen David in action and I just have to say he's awesome! He's great at the language too. I'm very proud of you David and I just pray that you will enjoy the extra work! Love you tons!
