Do you remember this one? Isn't this the essence of missionary work for you, or is that just when you are in Nebraska. So Elder Dave, do you do this on your service day?

I don't think I want to do much of this myself anymore. Jess, can you remember the smell. I still can from many, many years ago. It is one of the worst things in the world.

Oh, yes, I remember the smell...

That was probably the best day of service on my whole mission. I loved getting down and dirty and flexing my muscles with those calves. You know, most people brand and castrate their calves in chutes, but this fella didn't have any. We had to walk up behind the calf, grab its hind leg, while the other person grabbed the front leg and dropped the calf on its side. One of us held the back leg and put a foot over the calf's crap hole while the other kneeled on the calf's neck and held the front leg. Then the third guy brought the branding iron over and singed the skin.

I was about 1 inch from getting kicked in the face. One of the calf's legs got lose and he kicked really hard and I was lucky to be just out of his reach. I would have had a broken cheekbone. Try explaining that to the mission president.
