Spending habits in 2006

I had some fun last night pouring over all the transactions in my checking account between Jan. 1, 2005 and Jan. 1, 2006. It was very interesting to see how much we spent on certain things. Since we use our bank's bill pay, all our recurring bills are listed and easily sortable in my list of transactions, making it even easier to see what we spent. Some items of interest (well, of interest to me...):

$3,200: Amount we spent at Wal-Mart (we get our groceries there)
$13,350: Amount we spent on our mortgage
$933: Natural gas
$717: Cell phones!
$335: Water
$355: Power
$813: Car insurance
$1,582: Car payments
$93: Daily newspaper

And the list goes on and on and on...it was actually interesting to find information like the fact that we spent $125 at Little Caesar's last year, but that was actually less than the $140 we spent there the year before. Interesting...

That's all you spent at Wally world? Brent probably wishes that was all I'd spent there. I really don't want to know....You know, it's all really just a conspiracy to make us all dependent on them.

Yep, that's all we spent. We spent about $2,700 there last year, so we've become more dependent. This year, I got two new tires and two oil changes at WalMart in addition to the many trips for food.

Mike said we spend about the same amount of money on food. But we don't shop at Walmart for food very often. He also said your power bill is about half of what ours is. He said we don't have a very effective HVAC so we are thinking of replacing it. Isn't it interesting to see where all your money goes? There is this girl that works with Mike and she asked him for some help in budgeting. He discovered that she spends about $800 on food and at least $300 on clothes a month! What a waste of money.

What is this Wally's World. Are you refering to what some are calling the worlds next great economic power, Walmart?

I also thought your expence for electricity was very small. How is that? Mine was $220 for the last two months! I am jealeous. (Is that how you spell that?)
