Mike got accepted...now we wait

Richards,

FYI, I just formally approved you for the 21 month EE program. You'll get something official from the registrar, and hopefully AFPC will support an assignment.

Take care!

Well, that's quick. Were they waiting for the GRE results before they made a decision? Is this the program in Ohio?

Congratulations, kiddies.

Congratulations, Mike. I loved graduate school. It was a lot of fun. Your professors treat you more like collegues than underlings. I don't know if that will be true in the military, though. Good luck. Where will you be posted?

Ok, I will try to fill you in the best I can. Mike will have to fill in the blanks though.

First, the program Mike has applied for is the EE program, or rather, Controls Engineering. This will allow him to work with robots or make robotic prosthetics or something like that. He can explain what it all means.

Next, it normally takes only 10 days to find out if you are accepted to AFIT. Mike had been communicating with this professor though for awhile trying to know what he needed to do to be accepted. He has two classes that his ME program didn't have so his graduate program will be a few months longer (which means he owes them longer too). He just had to send his GRE scores and his transcripts with the application to this guy. He knew he was pretty much already accepted.

So now that he is accepted to AFIT he has to wait to be accepted by AFPC (which is the organization that decides when and where people will move). There is a new rule in the Air Force, and maybe everywhere, that you have to stay somewhere for four years before they will let you move. He might be able to move sooner though since it is a special program and not just a regular move. He has to wait to find out. He might have to wait for a few more years before he will be able to go to AFIT. When they let us go we will go to Ohio and then probably stay there for the four years after so probably we will be there for five years.
