MORE DENTIST WOES!

Well, I went to the dentist today. I had to have a very large filling taken out and replaced and then had a temporary crown placed on it since I had cracked the tooth last week. In order to get me in there, they gave me two Valium an hour before I had to be there. I went to work for two hours first, took the Valium at 10 a.m. and waited for Jim to come pick me up. I was ok walking out of the office, but was pretty loopy by the time we got to the dentist's office. They also gave me gas, which is a first for me. I think I could get through these visits if I did this every time. I would, personally, rather have another 11 children rather than go to the dentist. Every time I started to tense up, I would start to go over the steps of labor during transition -- focus, breath deeply and slowly and relax! I made it through and it's a major step for me because I'm a wuss about all this. One more visit in a couple of weeks and then that's probably it for another 7 years!

On another note, Ammon is having another same-day surgery procedure tomorrow. He asked the whole Primary to pray for him and for his "injection." It was cute. He is nervous. He remembers the IVs and knows they pull something out of his throat when he's done (extubate). That worries him the most. This is a simple procedure and he should be done pretty quickly. They will inject something around the stoma where we catheterize him because the stoma is leaking badly. They will look at the flap and if they find it isn't working, then at a later date they will have to do a full-blown surgery to repair it. We're hoping that won't be necessary. Please keep him in your prayers because he gets pretty scared going up there now.

That stinks mom. Sorry you hate the dentist so much but I hope your teeth are going to feel better. About Ammon, tell him that Will prayed for him tonight.

Is Ammon coming up to Primary's to have the procedure? We'll be sure to pray for him. It stinks that kids have to get old enough to figure out what hospitals, dr's offices, and dentists are for! Sometimes it's harder to get them in the car to go to the visit than the actual visit itself. The fear takes over. I remember sitting on the floor of our car in Nebraska and crying all the way into the dentist office because he scared me so badly. I didn't take much solace in the stupid "treasure box prize" the dentist offered after the torture. I especially hate taking Geoff to the dentist. I don't like feeling like I'm torturing him. We're scheduled to get 2 crowns and a mouthful of sealants on Geoff next month. We're just going to knock him out. Hopefully, that will work better. No memories of the visit at all -- that's my kind of dentistry!

Last week, Hans was doing his normal flossing when an old cap fell completely out of his mouth. It looks so discusting I could get sick. He still hasn't called the doctor to fix the problem too. I think because he's a scaredy-cat! I told him if he waits too long, he'll just have to get a root canal and that would be much worse. Since he's not listening to me, I almost wish he'd have to go thru that so he will learn his lesson...that his wife is always right!
